... my car is clean. I have never cleaned up my car ever since I’ve owned it. Rain does the trick... So that only means one thing. I’m bringing it to auction tomorrow. It will be sold at USS Nagoya on Friday. Fuck... That’s actually a lot harder that I thought it would be.
My wife won’t be able to keep her sanity if I have two 30 year old sports cars at home and I have to make space for the Delta. I will get something else, more reasonnable, that is not too hard to drive like the SA22C is... I’m not sure what yet. Maybe a Honda Beat? Or a FD RX7? We’ll see...
But the RX7 will be out of my hands tomorrow morning, Japanese time. Fuck.
Good thing is that I’ll finally know how much a 12a-turbo RE-Amemiya RX-7 is worth in Japan... Wouhou.... :(

Sad to see one of Oppo’s nicest cars go :(
Hope it ends up selling to someone that loves it as much as you do!

I’m sure if I have to ask, the cost is too high, but what are you looking to get for it?
I’m in full support of an FD RX7 or potentially a 12a/13b swapped cappuccino.

First gen RX7 are worth quite a bit in Japan... I’ve set the reserve price at 1 million yen, which is about 9000$. Granted that I hope it sells for quite a bit more and I think it should... The only 2 other two I have ever seen at auction (regular 12a-turbo, not RE-Amemiya) were a massively rusted and non-running one that sold for 640.000 yen, and a high mileage barely running one with paint peel everywhere that went for 1.4 million. yen. So we’ll see how it goes...

Sadly, yes...

It sucks, but you know, I’ll be happy to buy the Delta for what you paid for it and you can keep the RX7! Everyone wins!

I certainly think it is worth that much for sure! Do you know what site it is going through?

It’s a dealer auction, where all the JDM cars you see in the US basically come from... You should see it pop up there in a couple days: http://auction.pacificcoastjdm.com

If it’s not too late, I think you should raise the reserve to a number that you’d be very happy to get for it. You clearly love this car...

Sorry to see that wonderfully two-tone rotary is leaving us for good.
I called you out to comment on this, but I think you’ve been busy and missed my post.
Thoughts?

Nine cars is simply not enough! The more I look at the Impulse, the less I want to sell it and the more I want to 1UZ swap it (or maybe an LLR Inline 5, or maybe a Renesis, or maybe...). But we need to get a wagon for my better half, and then there’s that ultimate goal of finding a Bellel...

I believe many of us on Oppo are heartbroken that you are selling it, and will miss seeing it and reading about it.
But I don’t think any of us are as saddened as you are/will be.

Good article with just for one thing: “The country has strict inspections with no leniency for older cars”.
That’s actually not correct. Vehicles over 13 year old are allowed to pollute quite a lot more than newer vehicles. I go over it in the article you quote that I wrote: “Cars under 10 years old have to emit less than 1% of carbon monoxyde and no more than 300ppm of unburned hydrocarbon. Cars older than 10 years old are allowed 4.5% of CO and 1200ppm.”
It’s a massive difference for older cars, allowing them to easily stay on the road... The only reason japan doesn’t have much older cars on the roads is because of Japanese... They like new stuff and see cars as symbol of status... New = good, old = bad (unless it’s a kimono). It doesn’t have to be expensive or anything, but it has to be new and clean. Older cars are easy to register here and cars over 13 year old only cost an extra 10% annually on the engine tax... In the case of my car, it’s an extra 40$.

It’s been ready for a few months... it’s basically just waiting for me. Only thing left to do is a fluids change and the timing belt.
